Download the companion app

The companion app turns an Android phone into the bridge between your AI agent and a Bluetooth LE microcontroller. It connects to the board over Bluetooth and relays the board's serial port to the free desktop MCP server on your local network, so your agent can reach a board that is not plugged into your computer. The app also has a simulated demo board, so you can try the console before you own the hardware. The relay is the Pro feature ($20 one-time, see pricing); the app itself costs nothing to install.

What is proven today: the bridge has carried the desktop server's pin and bus tools into the real MicroPython interpreter in a simulator. It has not yet relayed a real board over a real radio.

Requirements

Install it, step by step

  1. On the phone, open this page in Chrome and tap Download the APK.
  2. Chrome may say the file type can harm your device. That is its standard warning for any app file that is not from a store; tap Download anyway.
  3. When the download finishes, tap Open (or open it from the Downloads app).
  4. Android asks whether Chrome may install unknown apps. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and go back.
  5. Tap Install. If Google Play Protect asks to scan the app, let it; if it says the developer is not recognised, tap More details, then Install anyway.
  6. Open the app. You land on the Pair screen; tap Try with a demo board to see it work.
  7. Optional, recommended: turn Allow from this source back off for Chrome (Settings, Apps, Special access, Install unknown apps).

Check the file before you install it (optional)

Download the APK on a computer and compare its SHA-256 with the one above: shasum -a 256 mcuport-android-1.0.0-9.apk on macOS or Linux, certutil -hashfile mcuport-android-1.0.0-9.apk SHA256 on Windows. If they differ, do not install it and tell us at hello@heronnetworks.net. From a computer you can also install it over USB with adb install mcuport-android-1.0.0-9.apk.

Pro on the downloaded app

Buy Pro on the pricing page, then open the app's Account tab and sign in with the email you paid with: Pro unlocks for your account. Your licence key is on your account page.

Updates

The downloaded app does not update itself. A newer version is published on this page; installing it over the old one keeps your sign-in and settings, because every version is signed with the same key. A copy of the app from any other source is signed differently, and Android will ask you to uninstall this one first.

iOS

Not available. There is no iPhone or iPad version of the companion app. If you only have an iPhone, the free desktop MCP server still works with every board plugged into your computer over USB; Pro adds nothing for you until an iOS app exists, so please do not buy it.
